THE PANDA

News Item:  China hosts APEC meeting (Nov. 10-11) in Beijing which dwarfed the
subsequent ASEAN summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar (Nov. 13-14) in the news media.

You know, I am easy going, as bears go.  But I do like those bamboo trees -- they're
my livelihood; they give me food, exercise ... everything I need.

From there my interests expand to the forest that supports them and next to the
country supporting the forest.  But it stops there.  Although in our interconnected
world we must trade for mutual benefit.

It is why I and my kind just cannot understand the barbarians.  They fight for
resources, killing thousands of people.  We prefer the hand of friendship ... even with
barbarians.

We build roads and harbors, develop infrastructure, send out people to live and work
there.  We do this for many countries.  They become our friends, and we trade for
our needs.

So we sign all kinds of agreements, to help our trade, to keep those bamboo trees
safe.  And we are making free trade areas.

Yes, so is the muscle-man -- but using muscle to force people to sign the TPP is not
going to work.  Not for the long haul.  We don't interfere in other people's business ...

And we don't have crazy politics like being on the losing side of an 188 to 2 vote
every year in the UN about a pinhead of a place, leaving the whole world aghast.  We
don't have that baggage ...

We have trade and friends to the west, and to the east, and around the world, and
we will soon be the most powerful place on earth ...
