THE HOUSTON FLOOD
News Item: With a record 50 inches of rain in the wake of hurricane Harvey, Houston
is flooded.
Houston was warned. People were prepared. But our owners said their area had
never ever been flooded.
This was different though, and the water came ...
Yes, it came. Slowly at first and then faster. I am a cat. I hate water and I would've
been dead but for my neighbor and friend Fido ... that giant black Lab you see there.
Oh, I didn't do anything. I only hoped she could hang on to my back. That she did ...
those claws!
Sorry, if I dug in a little deep.
Oh, it's nothing.
I promise, I won't make fun of you any more.
Don't say that. I enjoy your teasing. Anyhow don't you have nine lives. If I hadn't
been around, you'd still have eight left.
That crazy myth. You stop believing it when the waters begin to swamp you. Thank
you good friend and neighbor.
Stop saying things like that. I just hope we can go back to our old houses and be
neighbors again after this is all over.
So do I. So do I. So much flooding in Houston.
Yeah! Every couple of years it seems now. Is it ever going to stop?
Who knows? But we've had our third 500-year flood in three years and this one was
the worst. Heaven help us next time!
