TROMPE L'OEIL -- A PIT-BULL'S TRICKS
News Item: President Trump tweets money is pouring into NATO following his
hectoring. It's all in the trick of the eye ... whether it's three-dimensional imagery or a
Trump tweet tricking a reader. No money is pouring into NATO. Its expenses are a
paltry $2 billion (actually even a little less). The money has to do with countries
increasing their own defense expenditure -- they have been doing it since 2014 as a
result of deteriorating relations with Russia.
What a trick Fido. You fooled everyone.
Then you go spoil it losing the handshake wrestle with the French poodle who is
going around boasting.
And what about the German schnauzer who looks at you as if it's about to take a
chunk off your backside.
Then, of course the English bulldog always biting off more than it can chew.
Troubles at home with the opposition rising in the polls before the election, she's
looking at you in positive despair.
And what a look? It says -- plain for the eye to see -- I thought I was dealing with a
reliable pit-bull but I think I've got a jackass.
Yet without doubt a clever one, able to manipulate his own constituency like a con
artist ... and a serial half-truther.
How long before the curtain comes down on this act?
